How To Get Organized Like a Girlboss
As part of our girlboss lifestyle series, here a few tips on how to get organized and get your life together like a girlboss. In your mind, you have this clear idea of how you want your life to be. You can picture your ideal life but for some reason, things are just not working out the way you would like. The trick is to stay organized to make the mountain of daily tasks much easier to manage. In this post, I am going to highlight some of the practical tips that I have used to get organized and reduce the overwhelm.
Set a Morning Routine
Morning routines are vital, especially if you work from home, you are a mom or you have lots to get done daily. Create a morning routine that works best for you. Here is an example of my morning routine.
-Wake up (5 am)
-Scan through things to do list for the day (usually prepared the night before)
If you don’t have a planner, consider getting one. Notebooks are fine too, just get something to write your things to do and your daily, weekly, monthly goals. I use Google Keep and reminders on Mac to keep me in check when I am working on my laptop. I write everything down too though, these are some of the best planners out there:
-Bloom Vision Planner
-Evernote Moleskine Planner
-Kate Spade New York Planner
Clean Up Your Work Area
Keeping your work area tidy can be difficult to maintain, especially for people who are usually messy. However, it does make a world of difference so give it a try. This is what I do:
I have one ottoman in my home office; I keep all my random bits and pieces in that. My desk drawers are full of my essential items, organized with desk tidies. I only keep the things I need on my desk. Such as:
✒️One blue ballpoint pen
🎨Pack of colored fine point pens (in my pen holder/cup)
✏️Small essentials box contains a ruler, pencil, eraser, and sharpener
📓My planner and my ideas notebook
🖼️I have one large piece of artwork on the wall above my desk.
📱My phone and iPad I keep on top of my ottoman beside me
My desk is always clear of unnecessary items, thus helping me to think clearly and to prevent distractions.

Wake Up Earlier
If you are not a morning person, try to wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual to give yourself a head start. Use this time to plan plan out your day and gather your thoughts for the day. I usually plan out my day the night before but if you are just getting into this whole staying organized thing, try waking up 30 minutes earlier.
If you have a family, share the day to day tasks. Even if you kids go to school, get them to take the trash out the night before or in the morning. Ask your husband to put the kids to bed, one of the things that I notice when I speak to women who work from home, they try to do everything themselves. There seems to be this misconception that if you work from home, you just lounge around all day watching Netflix therefore, making sure the house is spotless, and the dinner is cooked on time should be an easy task right? Wrong! You don’t have to do everything yourself ! This will not apply to you if you are not a work at home mom, however, if things do get too tricky for you, you can always hire a cleaner, a part-time virtual assistant, or someone to do the laundry for you.
Do not be afraid to delegate!
I do have a few more tricks up my sleeve. However, I will save those for another day. Thanks, for reading, and have an organized day!
